Three Things.

1) I had to transfer my own blood vials today. Blood is creepy.

2) I learned my mom's cat is on anti-depressants. Go figure.

3) I am watching Jersey Shore over the Election coverage. Just tell me in the morning.

Twiddling my Thumbs.

It's been a boring couple of days. With some very random thoughts.

-Cedar Falls can thank me later for the growth of cherry trees between my house and the gym, due to my post run/pre boot camp snack...

-Driving up to the house yesterday, I saw a package outside the front door. I got super excited, thinking someone had sent me a package because I had nothing on order. No one sends me packages! It was going to be exciting! Got inside, opened up the front door, and it was the 2011-2012 Yellow Pages. I am clearly pathetic.

-I need to find a better vessel for ketchup. I find myself craving french fries (super no no in my diet) but I am 98% sure its just so I can eat ketchup. And no, ketchup does not belong on eggs. Nor is it catsup.

-As a kid, I remember LOVING getting the one cherry out of the can of mixed fruit. It was a legit highlight. Like getting the dessert out of the side dish.
I put a can in some jello yesterday to get rid of it (why I had a can, I have NO idea) and ate the cherry. And it was gross. So gross that I checked the can for the expiration date.
Clearly my tastebuds have changed.
Sidenote: It was a can of Very Cherry, and it contained a whole whopping three cherries. Not that I mind, cause ick, but still, you would think Very Cherry would have more than three.....

-Anyone read this that remembers the pink hair kid at Emerson? Moreso that he wouldn't eat honey because he was vegan....yeah, that was weird and stupid.

-In less than two months, I have watched 70 episodes of Ally McBeal and three seasons of Weeds. I think Tim needs to work less. Or I WILL turn into a crazy cat lady.

-I have run 15 miles a day every day (except one) for the past two weeks. I'm bore.

1, 2, 3....

No throwback post this week, just three shameful admissions.

1) My evening is ending by watching an ABC Family Original Movie (My Future Boyfriend).
2) My evening started by playing my Nancy Drew computer game.
3) I have eaten too many "mini" bowls of raisins and granola this evening.

Day Ten involves all men.

Bestest Boss on Veterans Day: I have the bestest boss in the whole world. Veterans Day = Holiday = I get to stay home and do all the things that I want to do. Like workout as long as I want, and clean the house! Ok, not really things I WANT to do, but things that I even less want to do at 8pm when I normally get home. I heart my boss. (Those that don't know me, I work for my dad, I dont have an abnormally creepy fascination with my employer).

Kurt on Glee: Tuesday's episode had me squealing and booing and awwing at the tv tonight, home alone. I love this show. It makes me happy.

Pumpkin marshmallows: It's been said before that Tim got me a Marshmallow of the Month Club, but I got November's gift of Pumpkin Pie marshmallows today. I love all things pumpkin. And marshmallow. Double whammy for my tastebuds.

Throwback Thursday: Doo. Do do do. Doo. Do do do. (Theme from Hotline).

Oh Hotline. I had such a past with you. You created my intense desire to work in the industry. You lured me in. Adult realizations in the recent years left me with a bitter taste. And you have not only rolled down hill, but completely plummeted to the bottom of the abyss. Last summer, they were still airing a few of my episodes from my senior year. In 2003. Ouch for them. Kudos to me.

Mind Mush.

I spent the past two days working on a shoot for TLC's, The Little Couple. Bill was in town for a medical convention. I have zero mental capacity left.

That being said, I currently enamored with Gordon Ramsay.
Note: The F-Word is waaaay better than both Hells Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares, combined. Totally different. Love it.

I heart this song.

This isn’t the official video, but the song was on Bones tonight….I very much dig.

Flash Mob Attack: Black Eyed Peas Style.

Ok, I am not a huge Oprah fan, but this is ridiculous. Ridiculous awesome. It just makes you want to be there to be a part of that energy!

In the meantime...

Being totally late in Sturgis pictures, and nearing late in 4th of July pictures, here is what I did at work today!

Dad was about to throw out his 2008 Heroes calendar, and I thought the bathroom needed a bit of sprucing up...thus the project.

Hiro wants you to be careful during your task!

Hiro acknowledges a job well done.

Matt Parkman promotes proper hygiene!

Nathan Petrelli wanted to fly to the ceiling, but it was a bit too high for short little ole me....

My job rocks.

Grub and Guilt!

Yeah. I'm back. And I'm working on the raw thing. Work in progress. But after buying two baby watermelons, a canteloupe, big thing of grapes, 2 bags of apples, 2 bunches of bananas, few grapefruits, few oranges, one pear, 2 boxes of strawberries, a bag of plums, 4 boxes of mixed greens, tomatos, celery, a HUGE bag of baby carrots and red peppers on Saturday, its pretty much forced since we have zero other food in the house.

Sidenote: People think that its going to be super expensive to go all produce, its not via the miracle of bulk food at Sams Club. Plus, honestly, their produce is usually better than HyVee or Fareways anyway. ESPECIALLY the strawberries.

I refused to watch this show. For however many seasons so far. But when you put Steve-O, Holly Madison, Chelsea Hightower, Melissa from Bachelor, Shawn Johnson and Lacey Schwimmer all on the same hour of television. I get sucked in. I am ashamed.

A few faves....

First off, 100th post. :)

My thoughts the past week or so have been consumed by the upcoming spring break. The Nordyke clan is heading down south for the traditional week of Disney excitement. The weather teased me for two days last week, peaking above 60, and has since gone back down to 30s. It just made the wait for Florida palm trees and necessary air conditioning that much more.

But I have been keeping busy with plenty of dvds at work. I know, I know, I have a cush job, but come on, who wouldn't want to be in my shoes on that one. Anyways. After How I Met Your Mother, I kept on the Jason Segel train towards Freaks and Geeks. Which has now coincided with Undeclared, staying on the Seth Rogan and Judd Apatow vibe.

This crazy train of tv on dvd has led me to a decision. All through film school, we were constantly asked our favorite films, directors, producers, yada yada yada. I never had answers, always making them up, mainly because I am such a teeter totter and my favorites were a constant rotation of what I'd seen recently.

I CAN ANSWER NOW. Well, sort of. I've got it narrowed down.

I know its pretty much all I've been watching recently, but Judd Apatow creates a show worth watching. Between the two, the cat is one hella cool creator. His background stories of his characters and their lives, mixed with the fact that he hires the actors, and then revolves his characters around the actors, makes for a show with chemistry beyond chemistry!

But, with this love, I must also vow allegiance to Joss Whedon. I mentioned it in a prior post, but the man does clever wit drama like a god. For examples, watch Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Serenity, or Dr. Horrible's Sing a long Blog. Prepare to love them and laugh hilariously at them. Enough said.

As for film, I am a Kevin Smith fan, but more of his personal work more than films, although a good dose of Clerks II can make me more chipper. But his book and dvds of his stand up are the better of his works. The dude has got clever humor oozing from his pores. Can't help it. I mean, thats what you get for sticking it in battery acid....

I must admit though, I am really looking forward to how Tucker Max does as a filmmaker. The kid wrote one ridiculously insane book, How to Serve Beer in Hell, and is now turning it into a movie. I've been following the blog, and think it might be quite the masterpiece....

Sorry if this post bored you. Just some random creative thoughts. Not even my own creativity, the witnessing of other's creative juice flowage.....

Catch ya later cleavage!

Tonight is the final episode of Girls next Door. A show that proves not all blondes are catty and dumb and heartless. I love these girls and I will miss watching them and their escapades that we all wish we could have. But no one blames them for moving on to better and hotter boyfriends! At least I don't....I'm not a huge fan of old man robe-age.

But alas I still have my Hows Your News and Amazing Race on Sunday nights!!! :)

Eric Ripert is French. Oops.

This show makes me hungry, even if I am eating while I watch it (which is way more often that should be). And it makes me want to cook delicious food all of time. I would cook for other people all the time if I could cook awesome food like this.

Thank you Steffan for not winning. You are a giant tool. Carla, you should have won, but thats what you get for listening to Casey. Hosea, sorry kiddo, but you probably shouldn't have won just for skirting by every week.

Padma is hot.

Voted off the Island....

Tonight, while I am working my fourth to last UNI womens game of the season, my tivo will be groaning under the weight of tonight's awesomeness.

For my viewing pleasure this evening....

Survivor: Pretty Boy Probst is my personal favorite reality show host. Dont know how, dont know why, he just has a tender spot in my heart. And I like his necklace.
But its a good show! Even Tim likes it, which is saying something. Maybe it has to do with scantily clad women and the whole man versus nature vibe. Yeah, thats probably it.

David Borneaz. Not as a lovetorn demon (Oh well, I can't win them all) but still something just as aggressive, plus hilarious, an FBI agent. The writers of this show know how to work a story arc, AND juggle about 8 different main characters. Plus, the introduction of Sweets a few seasons ago (Sam Weir on Freaks/Geeks) adds a ton. Roll this up in a tortilla of gruesome corpses, and you have Bones!

Going along with gruesome is CSI. I don't really have much to say, its just one of those shows that you watch just because they are a million seasons in and they STILL think of new ways to kill strippers....
Sidenote, the original CSI is the only one worth watching though, none of that spinoff jazz. Boo Horatio!

Burn Notice is the show that my parents got me turned on to. On USA, it keeps with their notion of Characters Welcome. And its true here. Michael Weston, and his friend Sam are true characters. Fiona has her moments in blowing stuff up, but really? Could she eat something? A cheeseburger? A bucket of lard? ANYTHING? A lovely bitter spy comedy, with lots of cartons of yogurt...

All topped off with a bowl of banana nut cheerios! mmm....

King of One Liners. And Vamps.

I want to work with this man:

I am totally apart of Joss Whedon's ridiculous fan posse that tracks his every move and loves everything he does. Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Serenity, Dr Horrible's Singalong Blog....sign me up. I just want to be a fly on the wall in his skull, getting to see and live his thought processes and utter genious. Plus, he's just a frickin hilarious man, but in smart, almost better than you way. Can't get enough.

That being said, his new series starts tonight:

I don't know how long to give it. It was given the horrendously dreaded Friday night scheduling. Plus, its after Sarah Connor Chronicles, ugh. It's like Fox is asking it to die quickly. Just like Firefly did due to its time slot. STUPID FOX.

Watch Dollhouse. It will be smart, witty, and hilarious. Wrapped into hot bods. Heart the Joss Whedon.

Ebony....and Ivooorrryyy!

I love Fridays. I love knowing I get to sleep in the next day. Just the relaxation of knowing its the weekend is strange. Because usually, I am busier on weekends than I am during the week, but its more the thought process! That, and the business of the weekends is much funner than the weekday.

Anyways! Not the point.

My point is that Friday nights bring about two of the most clever shows on television these days. At least in one liners. Quips that make me laugh so hard that I have to rewind the tivo in order to figure out what I missed right after the joke, is the point where it moves into Awesome category. Those, and this face:

James Roday rocks USA network television. When Psych was announced, I was unhappy that they were trying to copycat Monk so much. But they surpass even that quality. Both shows are fast, which is something I need. Tv ADD.

This has turned into a dumb version of me talking about shows you should just be watching. Watch Monk and Psych on Fridays. End of boring blah story. :)

Monday Media Mania!

Television has come to love Mondays. It cherishes it. It wakes up Monday morning, takes a few hours to recover from the weekend, and then rolls around in awesomeness starting at 7pm. Tuesday morning usually brings around a complaint letter from my tivo saying how tired it is from the night before. But I can't help it! Monday night programming is the new TGIF (oh yes, Step by Step in the house!) Here's my addiction, to the fullest.

7pm.
Big Bang. A surprisingly funny show. So quirky with smart, but easy humor. Leonard and Sheldon are good, but I love that the supporting cast has a stronger and stronger role this season. Wallowitz = Adorable.
Bachelor. Ok, I know, cheesy, corny, totally fake. But that is completely the reason why its entertaining. Plus, I like to bet on how long they last after the show airs. It's never long.
Chuck. Adam Badlwin as John Casey. Enough said.
House. Wilson isn't on as much this season, this makes me sad. They need to restart the prank war. But Thirteen is hot, as is Chase...

7:30.
How I Met Your Mother. Tonight is my first night of watching NPH demoralize women on live tv and not on dvd. This is sadly super exciting for me. Legendary.

8pm.
Jon & Kate Plus 8. This one surprises people, I hate children. But something about this show entertains me, I want to be friends with Kate, as long as she leaves the kids at home! PS. The kids, despite me liking the show, are not cute.
Heroes. My dad does a killer impression of Hiro trying to teleport and Peter Petrelli should always be shirtless. I strangely miss Elle, that was a cute storyline, but leave Sylar out of it. More flash forwards to him making muffins!

8:30.
Worst Week. I don't think this show is really that funny, but I started watching it, and now for some reason, I must know what he does to screw up his life every week. Mostly cliche, but walking in on his in law at the woman doctor, that was pretty amusing.

9pm.
The City. I didn't watch Laguna Beach, I swore to not like it. And somehow, I got stuck on the Hills. Speidi, whoa buddy, someone shave him already! But Whitney was cute and had real world potential, so I started, and now, the chick she works with, it sucks that people like her actually exist.
Trust Me. I'll admit, I haven't actually seen this one yet, but I've heard its really good, so I have all the episodes on tivo so far. I'll have a marathon with it eventually.

Now, I know. Television is bad for me. I should spend more time with real people doing productive things. But here's the thing, I have tivo, the greatest invention on earth. If real live people are an option, I go with it! I am not a hermit! And yes, I know that reality tv isn't real. Don't even bother trying to give me that spiel.

I went to film school, I got a degree in television production. I like to see all of this as research! And no, its not denial ;)

Small Pause for Captain Awesome and Clutter.

I apologize for my lack of posts the past couple of days. I have had two things take over my life.

1) I basically emptied every single closet and cupboard and shelf onto the floor in order to try to organize my life of all the "clutter" (What I consider clutter, most people would call slightly messy, I'm just OCDish) but I am almost done, at least until our new stackable washer/dryer is delivered in three weeks! Only a few small piles left to tackle....

2) The day after we got back from the trip, I started watching How I Met Your Mother. And didn't stop. Before Christmas, the first three seasons were on sale at Best Buy, and being totally unable to turn away from such a sale, I bought all three seasons. Once I started, it was just nonstop awesome action. I flew through the first three seasons, and then watched the first half of season four online. Now I am all caught up to start watching the show next Monday! Pumped. It's hilarious. Robin is my Canadian kid hating doppelganger, only she's much hotter. Lily and Marshal are just the epitome of pukingly cute but choking with laughter of couples. And Barney?
Legend.ary. I would continue to quote all the things that make him awesome, but frankly, I wouldn't finish until Easter. So just watch yourself! And force yourself to take a break after every couple episodes, or you never well, and you will end up like Ted. Alone :(

But now, I cross my heart and hope to die that by midnight, you will be able to read about more of the insanity of Europe!
