I might turn blue!!!

I'm not watch for grilling meat. In fact, Im not really a meat person. So today's Memorial Day brought us blueberry almond pancakes and turkey bacon instead of hamburgers and coleslaw. I would say QUITE the success.

Real Life Yogi.

Living in Iowa and researching studios for my 200 hour yoga certification is not a fun combo. In fact, it is quite frustrating. I can't be driving up to Minneapolis twice a week for a few hours. No! No I can't. But I really really want to.

And so researching continues.

Blog friends that I don't know in normal life, any insight on locations to get certified? I am going to have to travel as it is, so even if it's where you live, let me know if you loved it! Who knows what will happen.

*fingers crossed*
Namaste ;-)

Oompa Loompa, doompa dee dee!

As promised, my uncle Mike as an oompa loopa. It was one of the best performance’s you could see all year. My uncle is mentally retarded and has the mental capabilities of a five year old, but he has the energy and spunk of one too. He lives in a group home and the community he lives/works/communes with puts on a musical each year. Costumes, sets, songs, the whole shebang. They have “shadows” that feed them their lines behind their backs as the show goes on. Its truly fantastic.

This year was Willy Wonka, (Alice in Wonderland and Wizard of Oz have been previous years) and Mike donned the orange face paint and green wig to grace the stage (usually center stage, his favorite spot).
Mike TeeVee's shrinking scene.

Charlie was better than they could have dreamed of. The man in black behind him is his shadow, who helps with lines, but Charlie knew a solid chunk of them without any prompts at all.

Encore!

Throwback Thursday: Future Oompa Loompa.

Look for an upcoming post about my uncle. Tonight we went and saw a stage version of Willy Wonka, put on by the group that works with the mentally handicapped. He happens to be one of those people, and man, was he the center of attention tonight. Only an oompa loompa, he made sure he was seen by everyone. Pictures will be included. White overalls, orange face and green wig. Score. Trust me. You will want to see it. But this picture from the olden days will have to do for now.

May Mayhem!

In a matter of a week or two, its as if I ate my weight in badness. Tasty delicious badness. But, it was all for celebration! And celebration eating doesn't count, right?

Mother's Day. How adorable are they? Brunching at the country club.

Tim's 29th birthday. Monkey Bread beats cake any day!

Pella's Tulip Time. Now, it was nowhere near what we expected. We have heard so many awesome things about it, maybe we got a little over excited, but a two hour drive there wasn't worth it for the tulips, parade stuff, dutchy things, and whatnot. But it is debatable on if it was worth it for Jaarsma's bakery. Blueberry bars, Dutch Letters, Beehives of frosting, an almond crunchy thing, cinnamon roll, this is why the scale hated me this weekend. Tim definitely enjoyed his bologna on a stick though. Good lord, the concept of that title is disgusting. And then came the Poffertjes as he went back to the car. There was powdered sugar EVERYWHERE. But nummers. Times 10.

Lori : A Resort and Spa.

Hi Mom. Your uterus received a five star/four diamond rating. No Michelin star though. But I think we can all be ok with that. Thanks for the lodging, next time, more chocolates on the pillow. :-)

Throwback Thursday: Sizzlin!

Cinco de Mayo! Technically this picture is from a 4th of July celebration, but it was an event held with Spanish exchange students from way back in the day. My family hosted, as did Dieter's parents. This gathering was a welcome party for them (and my first experience with OP Pizza). I honestly don't even remember knowing John at the time, but when I saw this picture, it had to be posted. We're so little!! Well, I probably actually weigh more in this picture than I do now, but thats besides the point!
