Great Weekend.

Fall is officially here. This past weekend was totally relaxing but yet packed with awesome.
  • Made numerous combinations of peanut butter, chocolate, honey, corn flakes, awesomey goodness.
  • Played with a new puppy in an elementary school parking lot at 10 at night.
  • Hot yoga both Saturday and Sunday. New studios make me happy.
  • Drove down to Iowa City to Wilson's Orchard. Huge apples. Sugar free apple butter. Super cute shop.

  • Perfect Weather.
  • Shopping at the Outlets for Tim to get new work pants after dropping major inches this summer.
  • Getting sucked in to buying myself stuff at UnderArmor.
  • Traumatic "fashion" sighting though. I mean, really, someone purposefully put this outfit together for a public display?! My my. But the workers were in too tight sweatpants and Hawkeye shirts...so I guess it makes senses ;-)

  • Friends from out of town visiting
  • Watching the races at Cattle Congress
  • Even more people convening and hanging out at Toads and BWW

  • Beautiful day on Sunday to hang out, go on walks, convertible rides and take naps with kitties,

Arachnid Club Med.

A story of one of the very few reasons I dislike the fall season....

A few days ago, Nessa was guarding the front closet. A strange place for her to be, but I figured it was bug related. With the growing cold, it seems that theres a few extra sneaking in to stay warm. Got on treadmill. Run run run.

Minutes later, one of the HUGEST spiders I have ever seen scurries under the couch. Now, I really don't like spiders, but I also don't really have a fear of them. They are gross, and its not like I want to hold and play with them, but I dont run screaming either. I get a paper towel and go in for the kill. But this thing was creepily big.

I go to kill it, and I can't find it. I give up and continue my run as Nessa and Myla guard the couch like they are spider bounty hunters. As I run, I realize if I don't get it and kill it before I leave, I will never sit on the couch again without fear of that palm sized spider crawling over my lap.

I totally flip the couch over, see it, and then must race Nessa to kill it before she starts playing shuffle board with it, and it runs away, hiding again. I win the race, and it took a few stomps to kill, including a terrifying shriek when it crawled over my shoe. In my head I saw it making it all the way up my leg and into my shorts.

So we need to get these things dead. That's the third BIG one we've found in a week traipsing about our house like Club Med for Arachnids. NOT COOL.

And its another, Panther, First Down.

I survived the first football game of the year. Somehow. I learned the brand new system literally the day before, the instant replay computer totally broke down, and I had a crew of kids that had never worked with us before.

I walked in the door getting home feeling like I had lived through about three car accidents in a row, one involving a bright purple and yellow fire truck.

And then. Glory of all glories. Pizza arrived in my arms. And a carmel apple. And shortly thereafter, my pillow.

*sigh*

And yet, I am really really glad I am starting up my fourth year. I'd say Go Panthers, but I really dont care who wins as long as the game doesnt go into over time, so really, Go Team Dome Dungeon.

And it's Game Day!!!

Back in the Day (A Wednesday, of course)

I remember the walk I took a few months ago, the last real walk of 2009. It was almost "too cold", but I had my new camera and wanted to do it anyway. Oh, what I would give to have a day "too cold" like that again. It would be as if a huge heat wave had hit, and color had painted the skies. Remember blue? Remember how it felt to be able to actually see the ground? Without snow or even layers upon layers of salt. Even the ground that you can see is as what as the snow with much salt has been put on it this winter. It gets on your car, your shoes, your pants. Everything, as if you've been prancing around in a coke den all day.
The smell of grass. Of life. I swear the only outside smells I get now are the smells of going out to the garage where my car is warming up and the door is barely cracked to let just enough of the fumes out. Yummy, eh?

Reds, browns, kitties, and Tim!

Fall Sports Finale!

The Fall athletic season officially ended this weekend at UNI. Granted, there are still some basketball games left in the semester, but Volleyball is over (#1 in the conference, 26 straight wins) and Football ended on a less happier note (not even making the playoffs). They've gone fast, faster than the past two that I have been working them, but there is a whole winter season ahead!

Here's a few pictures of the games, taken by Tim, seeing as though I am in a cement tomb under a hallway between the field and the court. Far far and away from any of the actual fun action. But I saw all of the action on a 6"x10" screen! That should totally count for something....

Halloween Colored Beasts.

Even their fur screams that its fall! And that they are adorable. And that they really like salmon.
I feel like these two are the the diva's bodyguards...
Workin the catwalk....(yes, kill me for that pun)
And the snozzberries taste like snozzberries....

Fall is here. Just accept it. And bring me anything pumpkin flavored.
