As promised, my uncle Mike as an oompa loopa. It was one of the best performance’s you could see all year. My uncle is mentally retarded and has the mental capabilities of a five year old, but he has the energy and spunk of one too. He lives in a group home and the community he lives/works/communes with puts on a musical each year. Costumes, sets, songs, the whole shebang. They have “shadows” that feed them their lines behind their backs as the show goes on. Its truly fantastic.
This year was Willy Wonka, (Alice in Wonderland and Wizard of Oz have been previous years) and Mike donned the orange face paint and green wig to grace the stage (usually center stage, his favorite spot).
Mike TeeVee's shrinking scene.
Charlie was better than they could have dreamed of. The man in black behind him is his shadow, who helps with lines, but Charlie knew a solid chunk of them without any prompts at all.
Encore!
